Default Can anyone give me an idea please ?

Our quilt group is ten years old next year and a challenge has been set to celebrate this. The group has the word "GREEN" in their name and the challenge is to incorporate that colour with an idea. The size is 10" x 30" ( so three ten inch blocks ) in whatever style you want. I am not an art quilt girl and I did think of a pieced tree design of some sort. I am really finding it difficult to come up with anything so thought I would ask you all. Thank you so much for any ideas you may have.

I would look for your strengths in quilting and find a quilt pattern that will work. My strength is bargello so I would make one in shades of green batiks. You could make it look like the rolling hills that I see in Downton Abbey.

This is one of those things we can over-think if we aren't careful.
I'd say, make it easy and fun for yourself.
How about something simple like a log cabin block or courthouse square.. starting with a very light shade of green, then graduate to darker greens.
    Just a thought.
Have fun with it, whatever you choose.

A pieced tree would look nice. I had to chuckle to myself when I read DottyMO's idea. Thinking about getting all 2,500 or so names we'd have by listing all our past & present members from the last 10 years onto a 10x30" quilt would be a challenge in itself. But if you have a smaller guild that might work.

As HillCountryGal wrote, there are many options for a green quilt if it doesn't have to be appliqued -- or even if it does. There are many scenes you could create using only variations of green. Think Picasso's Blue or Pink Period, and then just make sure to have plenty of contrast in saturation to add interest; and it might also be good to add visual texture with various sized prints and some solids. It doesn't have be a recognizable object -- just start sewing and see what emerges. You might be surprised!

Oohhh! One more thought -- what if you got a solid wholecloth & did quilting in different shades of green thread?

I love this 2 colored block called "Tavern Puzzle". You could make it with a dark green and a light green combination. This is a 12 1/2" block, but could easily be trimmed to the size you need.

There is a pieced bare tree pattern that I might use. I would piece one block bare, the next with raw edge appliquéd bright tree leaf buds, the next in full leaf and the last in fall leaf colours.
