I just put together a quilt that was hand embroidered. Now after applying the backing and batting I am now ready to hand embroider some of the design that has to be done after the backing, etc. has been applied. I think I would like to do it in my easy chair and am not sure what size or kind of a quilting frame works to purchase to do the job. Can anyone help me .

Thanks in advance for your help

Here's a link to my favorite hoop for hand quilting:
    http://www.keepsakequilting.com/prod...PTOP-HOOP-.htm

It sits in your lap, is easily adjustable in any direction because of the swivel ball, and there is nothing underneath to impede the underneath hand. There is a half-hoop adapter you can also buy (makes quilting close to the borders easier).

I really liked using the Dritz PVC frame that stands on the floor. They carry them at Jo-Ann's for around $100, $50 if the Quilting Notions are 50% off.

When I was looking for a hand quilting frame Prism99 recomended this one to me....I love it! I bid on it on ebay...while I was waiting for the end of the auction a Jasmine easy-spinner floor hoop came up on ebay also, I bid on and won them both. I love each one. I have thought about getting a large floor frame (no baste) but right now I don't have room, I also can't quilt in all directions, as you need to on a large frame. I am sure it can be learned, but the swivel hoops are great in allowing you to quilt in the most comfortable position.

I found a hand frame pulled the fabric out of line so don't use one at all and always do it on my lap and if its large spread the weight across the sofa!!!

    Hi djg,

Just wanted to share the following link for You Tube videos about getting your quilt top ready to quilt for which ever type of frame you decide to use. The videos are by Sharon Schamber. Hope you find them useful.

Sharon Schamber, Hand Basting a Quilt, Part 1 of 2

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhwNylePFAA

Please keep us updated. I'm trying to find out what others are using, what they like and don't like and why for when I get ready to purchase a frame.

    Have a Great Quilty Day!
