I agree with your thought process. The first pic was too much (for me). The sashing tones it down. Will it be a double sided quilt with white and those other dr seuss blocks on the back?

The first arrangement makes me feel happy The white makes it look okay but not the same joie de vivre.

I agree with Tartan. From an adult view, it does look busy but from a kids' point of view, I think she will be delighted with the bright colors. She will probably point out and name all the characters as she spots them. Might drive her parents nuts, but she will always remember that you made it with a lot of love.

I love it!!! Everyone is right... bright and wild is what kids love... she is lucky to have an Aunt who loves her enough to make her her very own quilt!

I liked the first quilt just fine, but it is even better with the white sashing.

I agree with the sashing, but I strongly recommend RED, RED, RED! That is the one color common to each and every block and it makes such a happy statement. Besides, kiddos love red. (Be sure to check it for colorfast, though.)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the quilt in your first picture. Dr. Seuss has always been one of my favorites, my daughter's favorites, and our grandsons' favorites. We all like the colorful language, the wacky drawings, and the colors in all of the books. What is wrong with making a Dr. Seuss quilt which is just as colorful and fun as the books are? I say go for it!!
