Chenille scrappy top

Chenille scrappy top
I pick up a back of small pieces of Chenille at our quilt guild. came home and serged the edges and washed them. I cut them in 7 inch squares and use 1/2 inch seam. I will be putting a flannel back. Do you think I need batting? The chenille was so heavy I could not get the finished top to stay on design wall to take a picture.

Batting would definitely add weight to the quilt-especially with a flannel back. However, my question is about the seams. You said you made them 1/2 inch. Did you press them to the side or open? If they are bulky you might want a fluffy batting to cushion (hide) the seams. Chenille squares do make a nice quilt.
