Well, as a rule, I use creative grid rulers. Non slip and all that. I had forgotten how great they are..

So today I starting making some squares using an Omni 6" and some other brand 5".. OMG.. I need to order creative grid in these sizes. I have very careful so they don't slip..

But I love my little squares. I cut them out 6" to form them, and then squared to the 5" after completion. The back is going to be the black/white strawberry patch... I have a ton of that material..

Got a bunch to do!!

I've put sandpaper dots on the bottoms of some of my rulers. They do help minimize slipping.

There is also some kind of strip that can be put on the bottom of the rulers - Prism99 mentioned what it is - and that also seems to help.

Less expensive than buying new rulers.

Quilter's Select rulers are my basic rulers of choice now. I bought one to try and now have all the sizes. They are the best for non slip. I buy specialty rulers from Creative Grids.

One can buy clear/opaque first aid tape (about an inch wide) that has some grip to it and put it on the wrong side of your ruler. I love it especially on a Marti Mitchell 3 x 9 ruler that does not have any non slip advantages. And yes, love my Creative Grids as well.

You can put little pieces of 3M Safety Walk coarse clear tape on the underside of your rulers and they will not slip at all. It has to be the coarse grit, though. My girllfriend bought some on Amazon and it was a finer grit, which she says doesnt work. So make sure you are getting the coarse grit when you buy.

I am not about to replace my inventory of Omnigrid rulers but since getting my new Creative Grids, I will buy them from now on. Why don’t all ruler company’s make their rulers anti skid? Angela Walters rulers have anti skid strips as well.

No Creative Grid rulers, I did buy their strips to put on my rulers backs.

You can also put several dots (or lines) of old fashion rubber cement (the stuff kids used to use to put pictures and graphs on poster board with ) on your rulers - wait for it to dry and it is not only completely slip proof but is clear. I use this all the time. When it get dirty looking - it peals right off and on goes some more. Much cheaper that purchasing new rulers imho.

Replacing quilting rulers is the same as replacing an old appliance that still works but not working efficiently. Why hang on to a tool that irks you using it?
