I use washed flannel. It is easier to keep clean than batting. I moved and only ONE came down to my new apt. I am missing the other two which accidentally got stuck in storage. I don't drive so I am just going to have to wait patiently!! RATS !!

Im using a very large white sheet, I attached a sleeve to it, hung it on a closet dowel. I do have to pin my pieces on, but I really like it, and no fuzz.

Mine is on batting but I have to pin the blocks to get them to stay. So maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I cover a 3x4 foot poster board (it's about 1/2 inch thick...got it at Pat Catans for $3.50) with a piece of white fleece. Fabric/blocks stick to it like butter!

I'm currently using a flannel back tablecloth which does not have the degree of "stick to it-ness" I would like. Am going to try fleece next time.

I have used the back of a table cloth. I have used a flannel sheet. I have used batting. So far, the best by far was the batting. It's almost as good as Velcro. The only time anything falls off of it is when my project has grown so big that it's too heavy to stay without a pin or two.

Yes, it grabs stray threads too, but I don't care.

Oh, and the batting is Warm & Natural. It seems to be especially "sticky". I've switched to using Quilter's Dream in my quilts, so this old batting is being put to good use!

I bought an enormous piece of felt for my first one, I wasn't impressed with the stickability.

What I've been happiest with is flannel, pinned tight to my working wall.
After you've used it for a project you will find it is full of little threads, I like the tight flannel because I can take a sticky tape lint remover and roll it up over down sideways and it looks so nice and fresh for the next project.

I've got batting on mine. It sticks really well, and is slowly becoming colorful because of all the loose threads that stick to it. I'm trying to think of it as intentional art and color in the room rather than loose threads that should be picked off.

I used flannel for mine, it is easy to keep clean, I use a sticky roller to clean it.

Ladies, thanks to each of you for your opinions. I got my "board" last night from Home Depot and will cover it today with.....batting! I just love being able to ask a question on this board and get answers from the pros! You all are great!!
