It took me a long time to figure out why I would fight finishing a quilt. I finally realized I don't really like to do traditional quilting and after the first few blocks I'm bored with it. But I do love to quilt so the answer for me has been more modern contemporary quilts that allow my imagination ro wander all over my brain. It isn't the time it takes to piece the quilt because I love doing hand quilting and that takes forever. I think it's just the process of sewing all the pieces together. My point is, we don't all have to like the same things to enjoy quilting. Just enjoy what you are doing and have fun.

I also prefer contemporary modern, but it's also how I decorate. So, you're not alone.

I think that is one of the best things about quilting! And if you dont' like the style you are making..make your own! I'm a traditional quilter who loves brights and quirky color combinations. I think I have a break out art quilt in my bucket list tho!

I love the traditional quilts. I find working on them peaceful and relaxing.

I like both styles, modern and traditional as well as the arty quilts. There's a place in the world for everything quilt related!

I so agree, when I first started quilting again I found myself trying all the unique patterns and techniques on here. After a while some of it was more work than enjoyment. Now I've found the things that I enjoy most and only do those. I enjoy looking at all the modern and unique quilts, but I know that the only part I really enjoy is the hand quilting. Maybe I'll start doing whole cloth, then I won't have to punish myself with piecing? I think it really is to each his own. Which allows us all to benefit from oodles of different knowledge.
