I got my EQ7 a few year back as a present. I tried it once of twice, but it seemed complicated to me, so I just put it aside. The other day I was at a quilt shop and I saw that they had some 4 books on helping with the software. They are called, "EQ and Me. Has anyone bought these? I decided to have my husband get them for me for X-Mas. If you have them, do you like them and think they helped? If you have EQ7 and know of anything that helped you out, please say. Thank you.

If you look in the tutorial section here on the forum, you'll find one that may help you. It sure helped me.

I have the books for EQ5 and they helped me. I have an advantage over others since I bought EQ3 in 1995. I STILL haven't figure out what I am doing wrong with trying to get the fabric downloaded on my computer. I think it is going into the EQ5 fabric stash. But I am able to draw, resize quilt patterns and print out PP instructions. Post a specific question and we will try to help you thru the process.

Yes, I have EQ7 and have had it for several years. It has taken a long time for me to 'get' it, which completely surprised me since I used to write computer system requirements.

The user interface could be greatly improved to make it easier to use, but now I am getting used to it...

Having said that, it has helped me design several quilts for people I love and that's what i bought it for. I especially like being able to scan in my fabrics to preview them in the quilt. That's an immense help, especially before you cut the fabric!

It's like any other computer program, if you don't use it you never get proficient. I started with lesson one and worked with EQ some everyday. After a month I wasn't confused at all. If I don't use it often I will forget so I make sure I open it and play with it at least once a week.

The 2 books that helped me the most with EQ7 is the EQ with ME - Pieced drawing and the Quilt Design. I was lost until I did the lessons in those. It seems they were written in a more user friendly manner. I still don't know even one half of what EQ does, but I can draw blocks and I do enter a quilt in the DoYouEQ Challenge every month.

Ronda's EQ tutorial was really good too, but I am drafting program challenged. lol She opened the door, then the 2 EQ with me manuals helped keep it open.

I agree with everyone, unless you retain knowledge very good, you must use this program often. I haven't done the NY Beauty type of blocks in a while and am now going to have to find my Pieced Drawing book to get me going again.

I taught myself how to use the software using the EQ5 manual. I found it to be better organized than the manual that came with the EQ7 upgrade. EQ also has some books dedicated to pieced and applique drawing, but they assume you know the basics.

I'm anxious to check out EQ and me.

Good luck with your EQ journey. Once you get it under your belt, you'll be amazed at what a useful and fun tool it can be!

I also bought mine a few yrs ago but didn't do much with it. I also got some of the older books but was told they would work with 7. That could be true I just never followed thru. Well my LQS where I got my emb machine has a class now that does two things. In the morning we are taking the blocks from Dear Jane quilt and creating them in EQ7 and then the last half of the class we are pulling them into our emb software 5D or 6D Pro and turning them into digitizing files. With as many of blocks there are in that quilt, I should be really good at both by the time we are done. So excited on this class.
