I was told that the Amish quilters intentionally make something in their quilts imperfect (i.e., in a scrappy quilt putting the same color next to each other) because they say only God is perfect. I'm now convinced that I must be Amish and let it go at that!

You know, unless you are a quilter the little "bumps" are never noticed.

I made a t-shirt quilt for a lady and it was a little skewed after I finished quilting it. She and her husband never said a thing so I don't think she even noticed it.

Quilters are perfectionists and things just can't get perfect enough for us!

I drive my husband nuts picking out my flaws. lol

I do as I am sewing but it seems that when I get it quilted I never notice the glitches again.

So true what I remember is the love sewn into every stitch. it's really what quilting is all about in the end. Not to say that I'm not loving most of the process (cutting being the exception for me.)

Now here is a thought...piece an item to it's completion and then let someone else quilt it. That way, no one knows who to blame for any imperfections!!

An AccuCut system puts the love back in the cutting process for me.

We are always our own worst critic! I try to put mine away for a while after I finish them...then later they don't seem so bad

I'm so glad I'm not alone! I am a perfectionist, so I see every little imperfection & think, Should I take the stitches out & try again?" I'm trying to get over that, but it's so hard! I look forward to the day I can quilt & not linger over little boo-boos!

I was lucky. One of my first quilts was way beyond my ability at that time but I made it and every possible quilt-making mistake you can make and I call it my "techniquely terrible" quilt but I love it and display it every spring on my guest bed. I also believe in the galloping horse theory

ALWAYS!! But then I am my own worst critic. My sister has taught me that nothing in life is perfect, especially in quilting so I have learned to accept that and be happy with what I make.
