I do..but after I finish up the bolt I bought, no more. It's too unforgiving for FMQ, lol. Fabric.com has got some good prices on wide backing....fairly subtle prints/blenders.

I use good grade muslin all the time. the quilting shows up fantastic when a plain is used on the back.

I do all the time its a whole cloth and super soft compare to a sheet or something like that I have used Flannel Sheets though.

I'm wondering if anyone uses plain muslin for quilt backing. With the price of fabric going up, I'm looking for less expensive backings.

    Thanks,

I have found that muslin is about the same cost as regular fabric - why not match the top if it costs the same.
Muslin that has a nice feel to it was 9.99 a yard.

I love muslin backing. Especially after first wash it feels so soft. Plus it way more inexpensive!

It really depends on the quilt and what I have on hand. I just make sure it is good quality muslin. If I am wrapping up in it, I want it to feel nice! ;)

No, its to loosley woven and will not wear well.
I wait for fabric sales at my LQS or use JoAnn coupons to buy my backing fabric.
