I have occasionally. I've just started using solids for quilts. My quilts mostly go on the wall so no one sees the back anyway.

Yes, I do use it sometime. I really like to use
    a flat sheet.

Our church quilting group uses muslin on the 40 quilts we make each year for raffle at our annual picnic. Personally, I use muslin on large quilts and matching fabric on lap quilts, minis and wall hangings.

I wait for fabric sales at my LQS or use JoAnn coupons to buy my backing fabric.

Sure do! It's soft and comes in wider sizes. Also, you can buy bleached or tea-dyed for variety. I've been helping at our state historical society with their antique quilts and many quilts of days gone by used it, too.

Muslin comes in real wide widths so it does work well for backing.

I never have. But it would be absolutley fine. With the price of fabric these days, I may try it soon.
