go to http://quilttrailswexfordmissaukee.b...ers-wheel.html It looks like it is all in how you use color to bring out different parts of the wheel.

this barn quilt site calls it a carpenter's wheel... but has a star instead of a 'pinwheel' in the center http://quilttrailswexfordmissaukee.b...ers-wheel.html

Bonnie's quilt does look very similar-I think we have decided this block is an old block, called Snow Crystals....from 1920. Bonnie mentions using broken dish blocks in her construction, but it still boils down to sewing all 64 squares together....so I will just keep plugging along!

That is the pattern! It says on the pattern that this block is also known as Snow Crystals....when I first started searching, I went to that site but didn't have any luck! I do like the version I am making with the pinwheel instead of the star-kind of gives it an updated look! Thanks for sharing...
