Kids do like the feel of satin between their fingers. I'm wondering if you use a 1/2" seam allowance, thus making the binding thinner, it would not make quite so much of a bold statement.

    A "key" question:

Is the satin washable? Some wash up beautifully - some don't.

yes this satin is washable and has been washed

I am putting pink flannel on the back

I too was playing around with making it a smaller ruffle - like only 1" (instead of the 2-1/2" that shows and what I usually do)

The more I look at it, the more appealing it is.

Why not go for the bigger ruffle? (On every blanket I've had, the satin binding has always worn out first - maybe add some sort of "buffer" - so that if and/or when the satin might wear out, the quilt will still be okay?)

Its cute but I think the satin overpowers the darling quilt. Do you have any other pink fabric to choose from?

My thoughts also. Lighter pink would be much better

It looks like the pink matches part of the dancer's costume. Go for it! And congratulations on working at using what is already on hand -- that is SOO...hard to do!

I'm in the same camp with everyone who feel the bright pink doesn't quite match perfectly but is perfect for a little girl. My nephew used to call his a "silky blankie". The feel of satin is very soothing. Ideally a lighter pink would "go" better, but there's a lot to be said for using what you have. Girls who love pink (which is most of them) love all shades of pink, in my experience.
