Moral to this story: A clean machine is a happy machine.

Check your manual. I would think that even the new machines require oil in the bobbin casing . That is metal on metal.

I attended a class when I purchased my machine and was told to NEVER blow dust away. He said the humidity from your breath is not a good thing for your machine. He suggested one of those "air cans" or a vacuum cleaner.

I bought a little hose with a tiny nozzle to attach to my regular vacuum cleaner hose. It is especially for machines such a sewing machines, computers, etc. It really works well for removing lint, crumbs
    , etc.

I clean and oil my machine after each quilt. I treat my machine like it's my baby!

eleu16, I'm glad you found the problem was a simple fix. In case you DO have a serious need for a Janome service person, there is one in Big Sky. How does a Minnesotan know? My sister, who works part-time at QIC, told me. Also, when I was out there for a visit last summer, there was a spiffy Janome on display at QIC. Perhaps you can ask for more details the next time you stop in there.
