I have spent a long time looking for a video showing how to use a Featherweight edgestitch foot. I have the manual but am still having trouble trying to use this foot to join two pieces of lace. It seems there are many versions of an "edgestitch foot" including very modern ones. I found two videos about the vintage version. One was Tom Tapping's who showed plain edge stitching which I have figured out. Another showed a foot with 4 slots. The Featherweight one has 5 slots. I searched the forums here and the tutorials at the Featherweight shop. Any help would be appreciated. Janiebakes

I have a similar foot for my 301a. I remember figuring it out a few years ago, but can't remember exactly how it works. If I have time later, I'll get it out and figure out how it works.

Thank you Patrice. I had found that video but dismissed it because she has the slots numbered differently than my manual does. I thought there were only 4 slots but a closer look shows she didn't count the piping slot. I think joining lace together might be the advanced version of joining the hem lace to the fabric. I will practice that first and when I have that down, will try the joining the lace again.

I've never joined lace on a straight stitch only machine. I've always used a narrow zig-zag. Let me know how it works on the FW.

Cashs Mom, I finally got two pieces of lace sewn together though I never did get it to work using slots 1 and 4. It was just too hard to keep the laces properly positioned. Those two slots give you a very narrow overlap. I used slots 1 and 5. Tension is very important as is a sharp thin needle.

OurWorkbench, thank you for the links, especially the Sewing Skills pdf. It does a great job of explaining the Edgestitch foot as well as the other attachments that I hope to conquer. And it illustrates so many amazing decorative effects.
