    Question Folded Corner Clipper

Has anyone used this? Am I reading and seeing the video correctly that you get 2 different sized HST out of your 2 pieces of fabric instead of 2 the same size? Or am I confused?

I don't know about that. I thought it was designed mainly to snowball blocks. That's what I use mine for.

I just looked up the video...I don't usually sew the little triangles that are left. i've got baggies of them LOL

Yes you get two. The one you cut off makes another HST of a different size to use in another project. This way there is no wasted fabric.

Looks like they are just sewing the 2 triangles together that would normally be discarded when you make a snowball or flying geese unit. They are normally not used in your pattern so they are bonus and a smaller size.

I googled the video and yes, you are getting 2 different size triangles with this ruler. There are many HST methods that I think are as easy or better than this ruler. This one in particular using painters tape is awesome! http://www.aprilrosenthal.com/2013/1...ngle-hst-hack/

Thanks everyone. Melanie, I had not seen this method and I hate drawing the lines, so I will try that today. Thanks.

I never saved my triangle leftovers when I snowball the corners because they are so small.

Whenever I have a block where I need to trim off a corner, if its large enough I stitch another line, press it and add it to my growing HST container. Sometimes I add them to the quilt they came from as an added sashing/border to add size to the quilt.

I use the triangles left from borders, sew them together trim to 3" or larger and use them as blocks. I am making scrappy quilts and figure fabric is fabric.
