Thank you, MadQuilter and everyone who responded. I looked at what was left on my bobbin and it was not wound tightly. Weird, because I had used over half the bobbin before this happened. My machine was set on medium speed, so maybe I forgot and wound it on that speed. I rewound it on high speed, and so far it is doing fine. I'm so glad it didn't damage the machine!

Yep my brother did it a few weeks ago. Have no idea what the problem was, I'm just glad its not doing it anymore!

Mine did that a couple of times so I got out the manual and discovered I was placing the bobbin in the machine backwards!!! It's a wonder it was sewing at all...

Yes! It happened to me on my Brother 4000D. When I took it in to check it, the needle cutter had a piece of thread stuck under it and stuck in the cutting position. I've since turned the automatic cutter off.

Thats exactly what caused this to happen.. ask me how I know.. lolol I actually sent a picture to brother asking them what is wrong with my machine. As I am a newbie.. I just knew it had to be my machine..couldn't be me.. as I did nothing wrong. ha ha ha..
