out of a quilt that I was embroidering on?????

i would probably put some shout on it and wash in a gentle cycle or use some woolite but use cold water!! anyway thats what i would do but if you haven't finished you design yet go ahead and finished it since you cant take it out of the hoop the oil wont get worse
hopefully that will do the job.

A good grease cutting liquid dish soap should take it out.

I use Dawn and it usually works on stains like that. It's worth a try.

You might also try just a Q-tip full of your regular liquid laundry soap on the spot itself right now, then wash the whole thing when you are completely finished.

I had gotten a drop of spaghetti sauce on my beige slacks at lunch the other day and didn't have time to change before going back to work and tried this. By the time I got home from work the spot was almost invisible. Did not use any water either.

I think this is the concept behind the Tide Pen.
I would also try some liquid grease fighting detergent (laundry or dish) right on that area and then wash the whole thing once you are done.

Hi and welcome to the board from Oregon. I am consteintley getting grease out of my sons clothes with oxey clean. the powder form. I dampen the fabric, take a hard tooth brush, make it in to a paste and scrub the area. I let it sit for 10 minutes and wash in cold water, repeat if needed. but don't dry until stain is out. Penny

Thanks for all of your helpful hints. I tried the "Shout" route and I am washing the item as we speak.
Will let you know the outcome. I have my fingers crossed!!
