when I first started i would cut the piece into 6" squares, 5" squares, 4 inch, and 3 1/2 inch. My smallest being 2" I would do that until the scap piece was all used. Now with strips so popular, I have a tote of those as well. I put my squares into ziploc bags and mark the size. The strips are all together. I guess everyone has their method.
