I used a small bit of the background fabric. Appliqued it in a small sq. I pointed it out to the owner, and she could not find it again. It just blended in...

I would put an applique on it. My son cut a hole in a quilt..like just came off the frame and he snipped a hole in it. I just did a few appliques on the quilt and it was fine. Nobody will ever know it was there!!!(except me)

I would also put some fray check on the tear before doing whatever you're going to do w/ it. That'll prevent it from tearing out more.

This would be my solution - butterflies, hearts or embroidery.

How about a few hearts scattered over the body of the quilt, so the one heart doesn't look out of place. No one will ever know that there is a tiny whole under on of the hearts.

If you do the heart or flower route maybe you can add another one or two somewhere so it seems like it was planned!

An embroidered design works well and will strengthen the area.

You could applique any shape...hearts, stars, flowers, circles...just do more than the one so it looks planned, and not just covering up the whole.

This is what I do. I did this once and now everyone wants one on theirs. It is sort of my signature now.
