Default How much yardage do I need?

Can someone please help me figure this out. My brain seems to be out in space somewhere.

I need 10 squares of flannel cut into 8 inch squares. How much yardage do I need? This is what Im thinking.....
If flannel is 40 inches wide (I dont know how wide flannel is) if I cut 2 strips 8 in by 8 inch wouldnt I get eight 8 inch square blocks out of each strip? So if Im right would I just need a half a yard?

5 x 8 = 40, so you would only get 5 - 8" squares per strip. So, you will need 16" of fabric, cut into 2 - 8" wide strips, each strip then cut into 5 - 8" squares.
