Default how would you quilt this???

I have been stuck for over a month, I have made drawings, tried testers and I cannot figure out what the best design would be for quilting. I know I want to quilt feathers on the dark blue sashing. Any advice would be welcome. I am mostly stuck on how to quilt the square with the pieced flower.

Since you want to know how I would do it I will say that I am not a fan of lots of machine quilting and go for the older look of hand quilted. This would be 1/4 inch inside echo to each piece. Then I would do serpentine swirls in sashing. Think DNA strand to get the picture. The plain blocks would get some feathers wreaths.

You could do gentle curves following the lines Auntie V suggested to give a more rounded shape.to represent a paw.
Like feathers in whole square and curved in the nine patch.

Very pretty quilt. I would do an all over meander as I don't know how to do anything else. Not much help, sorry.

Since you're already doing feathers, could you widen or open up feathers to resemble a flower? Basically a wide feather on each individual flower that would make a type of medallion over the whole block. That would enhance the flower theme of the quilt and still be similar to the other quilting.

What do you want to stand out? If it is the dark blue what about stippling only that or vice versa? It does not need quilting all over. Just every 4 inches or so. On the big patterned blocks you could do a box in box quilting.

First, piece the top and put on your borders, if that is the plan....then think about quilting it...maybe in the meantime you will see something in a mag or on line that will inspire you......

I think to emphasize the flower you could do a leafy shape in the outermost points of the blue then curls or swirls in the next point and an oval in the center. You could do leaves in the white sashing and then instead of feathers leaves in the blue. Rough sketch below

I like all these ideas...this is the hardest quilt I have ever done. What about the light blue 9 patch?
