Default How would you quilt this?

I'm making this quilt for a friend to give her sister at her baby shower. How would you quilt it? Keep in mind, I don't really FMQ, I use a regular foot. I can do straight lines, shadow the designs (like I've done around the main elements here) or something else relatively simple.

Suggestions? I don't want anything too busy, it would take away from the applique.

Given your guidelines, how about diagonal crosshatch?

I agree with QuiltnNan. Cross hatch the background and echo inside the heart.

Have you ever tried a wavy stitch? My machine can do it as a quilting stitch even with a walking foot. I'm thinking you could do a wavy stitch either straight lines or diagonal in one section, crosshatch in another section, and echo in another (like suggested around the hearts maybe). It would be cute to do them each differently.

You could google quilting with a walking foot and get lots of ideas and samples to pop up. I can do gentle curves and if you can do that you have more options. Whatever you do the quilting will make this quilt because you have so much open space. What a sweet thing for you for do your friend! And what a lucky baby! Please show us when you finish it ok?

I was thinking crosshatch also. You could echo a little inside and outside of your appliques which would only enhance them. Adorable quilt idea.

I would shadow quilt around the hearts and maybe the name and then cross hatch the center where the lady bug is .
