Default Ideas needed to create faux frames

The quilt I'm working on consists of applique blocks of flowers. The background alternates a cream color with a slightly darker cream. There is no sashing-just joined together.

I would like to create a faux sashing between the blocks to offset the echo quilting (or whatever else I decide to do), but am at a loss.

My question is how to handle the connecting seams. do I ditch them or ignore?

If someone has ideas to share or, even better, point me to picture examples, i would appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance,

You can create shapes or frames on a quilt by closely quilting some sections and leaving the frames unquilted. Take a look at the sites www.quiltingismytherapy.com and www.greenfairyquiltsblog.com
