I was working on a donation quilt today. As I was sewing I thought the machine sounded funny. Then I turned over what I was working on and the bobbin thread was just laying on the back, barely caught. I rethreaded my machine and bobbin and it did the same thing. So I pulled out the bobbin case, thinking there might be a thread caught. We what did I see, Lots, and Lots of fuzz. It has not been that long since I cleaned it. But I have been sewing alot lately. Lesson Learned. Clean more often.

I've started doing a cleaning every time I change the bobbin. Seems to help.

my machine says clean and oil every 8 hours. Sometimes that can be once a day. But it "acts" up if it isn't kept up- so I do the same- when changing a bobbin, swipe with the little brush and then clean and oil every 8 hours. Runs like a top.

When my Viking starts chattering and acting funny, I know that it's time to clean the bobbin area. That is one picky machine.

I clean before I do any FMQ, so every quilt I make, the machine gets defuzzed.

Get yourself a straw and a pipe cleaner and fold the end of the cleaner so that only the loop comes out the end of the straw. Use that everytime you clean your machine and when you oil. You will be amazed at how much it grabs.

a good 'rule of thumb' is to clean your machine with every 2nd bobbin change- lint can build up fast in the bobbin area. it makes a huge difference- and can help your machine last for many many happy years if you take care of it.
