    Default Janome Sew Mini

I'm thinking of getting this for my 9 yo daughter to be her first machine. Has anyone ever used this machine? Would I be better off getting her something at Good Will or should I get this for $49.99?

Ok, maybe I should spend a little more so she's not dissapointed. I have a Brother CS6000 in the closet that I learned on and I told her she could have it but she wanted her own. I'll tell her the sew mini will frustrate her and she's better off using mine. But it will now be hers

Yes, give her your Brother and with the money you save by doing so, buy her a few of her own sewing tools like scissors, rulers, thread and etc.

I mentioned giving her my Brother and she was so dissapointed. I think I will get her the Janome and save the receipt and if it's not working for what she needs then I will return it and have her use mine. I think she just wants to have something that is hers and I get that.

I have and love this machine but I use it for papercrafts. I'm not sure I would use it for anything more involved like fabric crafts. When my dd was 9 she got a full size machine for her birthday.

They have some really cute Janome Hello Kitty machines on ebay. My friend bought one to tote to classes and it works great.

It's just 1/4 size smaller than a regular machine. They are lighter weight and great beginner machines. If you go to Amazon and put in Hello Kitty sewing machine a 3/4 size green one is for sale. Janome makes the Hello Kitty ones.
