Just a suggestion or two that I find very helpful:

I get a plastic or vinyl tablecloth backed with flannel which I either tack to the wall or place on the floor when I am laying out blocks for a quilt. It keeps everything organized and in place, can be rolled up or folded for storage or travel and makes it so easy to try different layouts.

I also take photos of the final layout for that "Just in Case!" situation. Saved my B*** a time or two!

    Happy Quilting to all.

Thanks. I am sure that is much cheaper than the F&P Design Wall I got (with my Joann's coupon) and does just as good of a job.

hmmm...wonder if the things that you use when putting puzzles together will work...you know how you can supposedly roll up a puzzle in progress...not sure what they are made of tho

Sounds great for small quilts. A piece of felt might work too. I am usually doing something large. Think that is going to change with prices going up!

There was a good thread the other day with lots of different design wall ideas.

I started with the tablecloth and found it didn't have a lot of stick!
Then flannelette taped to the wall with painters tape.
    Graduated to fleece.

I now have a deluxe permanent one ... black fleece on tentest sheeting screwed to the wall. 7-1/2ftx10ft. Bliss!!! :)

I have one of these, and it's made of felt. It works great for puzzles. I never thought about using it for blocks! I'll have to test it out!

I will have to tell my friend about this. She is in the process of creating her own quilting room and talking about a design wall. Incidentally, her last name is Bliss!

I love my design wall and have not had one regret since I put it in a couple of years ago. I am fortunate that I have the luxury of the space. I know for many it is not at all possible.
