Default Looking for the name and instructions to make this quilt Block

In looking though some of my old files, I found this drawing of a quilt block. I know I copied it from somewhere, but it has been so long, I have no idea where I found it or what it is called.

I found some blocks somewhat like it, but I really like this design with the center square on point. I’ve been looking for days….

Does anyone know the name of the block or where to find instructions on how to make it?

    Hi, Ru.

I just finished a wall hanging with a similar block. The wall hanging is a copy of a barn quilt my cousin gave me a couple of years ago for Christmas. I couldn't find an exact pattern for the block, so I designed my own using EQ8 software. If you'd be interested in the pattern I used, I could email it to you.

Looks like a variation of 'Noon and Light'. If you want the exact one
you drew, you might have to do some paper-piecing.

Ok. I found it. It's 'Beacon Lights'. And like I said, it's paper-pieced.

Once you know the name, sometimes you can find other instructions. It takes a while to load (I didn't wait for all, as it was taking time to load the pictures) but non-PP instructions can be found at https://web.archive.org/web/20141030...-2-beacon.html and then there is a youtube video, but it has a pieced center square at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL23qEBa_dE

Oh, my gosh, thank you all so much! Each and every one of you! Beacon Lights is exactly the one I'm looking for! And knowing the name and now having an archive.org pattern is fantastic. Just need to change the center to one square and not a square in a square.

I had found so many variations and similar blocks, but it's hard to get my head around to how exactly I needed the block to be.

The closest pattern I found in 501 Quilt Blocks is the Variable Star. Your pattern looks similar but does not match exactly. The center matches but the next row out does not. Then the 3rd row out almost matches.

It may be that the person who did this pattern wanted to not use as many triangles/HST's. and adapted the pattern to her/his liking. Sorry I could not give an exact pattern name for you.
