If you are going to be doing any quilting at ALL on this machine I would go with the XR 46c. Simply because of the space. The CP-7500 has a rounded throat space making it much harder to shove a quilt through. The XR 46C on the other hand has a squared throat space giving the user a little extra room. I love the brother brand and I wouldn't give it up even if someone GAVE me more expensive machines!

Answer will depend on who you talk to...I have had my Bernina for 20 years and love it...Pfaff users love their machines...so do Viking machine users, etc. Best thing if you are going to be shopping for a machine is to take along fabrics you would be sewing on and try different machines, stitches, techniques and buy the one you are happiest with. Ok I iunderstand everyone has there own preference in sewing machines. But out of the 2 i mentioned which one would be better to have? I would like to machine applique and free motion quilting plus be able to sew through thick fabric. Out of the 2 which do you think would be better? I would like to demo them but its on line and i dont have anything close to me to look at.

I couldn't find the first one - Sewing Machine XR-46C- but the second one had good reviews on it....If it was me I would get and older mechanical machine for the thick stuff like purses ets. and the new one for applique and such......Rita
