Default Mixed Fabrics and Presser Feet Please Help

It's a cotton pieced top, needled cotton batting, and minky backing.
I've got the walking foot on the machine now, and the thread looped on the backing side and wrinkled the backing.
Am I using the wrong foot or is it a tension issue?
    Thanks!

Wondering if a knit needle would work better?

I actually had that problem too. I believe it would happen when I tried to force the fabric (only way I know how to describe it.) I would have to stop, clean up the mess (which isn't easy with Minky) and start over again.

    it's a tension issue.
re-thread the machine, making sure you are using at least a size 14 needle. 16 would probably work best.
check the bobbin area thoroughly for lint and other shmutz.
take the bobbin case out, too, so you can check everything everywhere.

put it all back together, make sure your bobbin is going in the correct direction, and reset the tension to the factory setting. you might have to adjust it a bit from there but the other problems have to be solved first.

You say you have the walking foot on now. Were you FMQ before? Maybe you have the feed dogs down?
