Default Model 2004 Elna Sewing Machine

Does anyone own one of these machines? I am wondering about current value of this machine and things you like or dislike about the same. I currently have an older machine but may upgrade to the 2004. I know it is not a new model but it looks to me like it would be a good machine and would do a good job of sewing for me. Any comments would be appreciated.

I have an Elna 740 eXcellence and an older Elna Lotus.....and I could not have been happier with any other machine!! Thick fabrics, flimsy fabrics, old thread, new thread, cotton or poly thread.... I can use anything on these machines, and they just keep working!! I gave my Bernina to my sister, because I just could not cope with all its issues with thread and/or fabrics!! So, from my experience with Elna machines, I would say...go for it!

I just purchased and ELna Expressive 860 and reallly like it. Have some newer features on it that make it easier to use. I have two other machines, Janomes, and was not sure if I would like the elna. But glad I have it

I bought my Elna Quilting machine new in 2006. I've done the regular owners maintenance on it since, and took it in for the first time 2 weeks ago for service. (I decided it was time, and due to overtime, could afford to pay the $150.) I do all of my sewing/quilting on it. Any problems I've had were usually operator error. I would buy another one in a heartbeat if I lost this one.
    Good luck with your decision.

I looked on ebay and the only 2004 listed went for under $50 with shipping. Don't know if it's the same machine you are looking at, and of course it's used. Also check craig's list to see what people are asking.

I started with an Elna 6003 Quilter's Dream, and am now using my 740 Excellence. LOVE THEM! Of course, regular maintenance is key. Still use them both. I've never heard of a 2004, but if it's an Elna and like the others I've owned, it's a great machine.
