    Default Need Ideas

Hi all! Hope I can get some ideas from you for my grandson's quilt that I am making for his graduation. I have material that has about 3 or 4 inch snowboarders all over it. He is an avid snowboarder, but also has a passion for antique cars. I was thinking about trying to incorporate the two together, but am inclined to use the cars (haven't purchased this material) as the backing. Anyway, what I really need is for some pattern ideas to showcase the snowboarders. Help!!

Do you have an embroidery machine, or someone who does? There are tons of designs for that out there

Warm Wishes is a nice pattern to feature a focus fabric like your snowboards.

I just checked out the two recommendations, and think the warm wishes might be the way to go. Thanks!!

You can shadow quilt a LARGE snow boarder on it and use the rest as back ground. I use iron on backing for the design. Light weight would not feel stiff or hard. Otherwise I would just iron on about 1/2" around outer edge.

What about using car fabric (or applique or embroidery) on the bottom of the snowboard? Or you could have the snowboarders wear snowpants or jackets made out of car fabric.

The BBQ patterns from Maple Island Designs are good for showcasing focal fabrics. The second fabric could be used as a border or as backing.

I frequently use a single fabric as a backing. As long as the binding will go with both the front and the back, you now have a reversible quilt. Everyone I give them to loves them.
