    Default Need Thread Help Quick

I'm ready to sit down and start FMQ and STID my quilt and discovered the only thread I have in color I need is 100% polyester. Can I quilt with that? Both top and bobbin? Of course, I want to begin now. TIA

Personally I think it would be fine, but I am no expert and I am no longer a purest (i.e. all 100% cotton) when it comes to stuff like that.

Many many well known quilters use only poly. They use cotton for the piecing. I use only poly on my HQ as it produces so much less lint. Go for it.

Thank you for quick responses. I'm now stitching with poly.

look forward to seeing your finished quilt as I too, am probably going to be
quilting a lap quilt for a Christmas gift with a mixture of cotton threads, and
bc of colors needed, some will be poly.
I hope it goes super for both of us!

I like polyester for FMQ because it is strong and less linty then cotton.

I've been using Poly lately simply because it has the best colors for my needs. Yes, I am enjoying the "lack" of Lint.

I learned it was okay to use poly when I took a FMQ class with Leah Day about 3 years ago...my go to is Isacord and/or Glide. Show us your finish...

Isn't it great to have so many choices. As quilters we are blessed with industry research and so many choices. I like Superior Threads and they certainly offer a wide range of poly and cotton threads and the education to use them to best advantage.

It's stronger and doesn't break going high speed.
