Hi Everyone,

I've had this fabric 17 fat quarters; a collection called House of Seven Gables. I've thought of using these in two different quilts, but it never seems right.

With all of your expertise, what pattern would you use to for these fat quarters? I bought the material because I am from Massachusetts and I love historical fabrics, but I've never used them. I've googled historic quilt patterns and looked through my books, but I'm at a loss.

Thank you for any suggestions you have.

I couldn't see your picture so I googled that fabric line .... nice fabrics, perfect for a turning 20 quilt top or D9P or something similar that would allow each fabric to shine. Good luck!

Oh Thank you MaryMo. I'm having such a hard time getting the picture to be appropriate size Aren't the fabrics pretty. I'm going to check out what you've suggested.

i have always loved this block:

if you draw it out, you will see a secondary pattern emerges if you don't use sashing. the block has components big enough to show off lovely fabrics, and you can plan it so that your "scrappy" look becomes really harmonious, which would be great for using a fat quarter selection.

i have a pile of william morris fabrics that will probably find their home in a windblown square quilt someday soon-ish.

or how about cutting into 2 /2" strips and making a jelly roll race type of quilt.
I just did that with Christmas fabs, and another with scraps I had laying around.

I like the windblown block. Have it marked in a book waiting for the right fabrics.

That's IT!!!!! So perfect - Massachusetts LOL I love it. And if I use off white or off white on off white that could make the high contrast! Well, at least for most of them. I'm so excited! Thank You!!!

Looking at the offerings of this fabric line, there seems to be little contrast......you definitely need something else to pop some of those prints.......like that Mass. Block site too!
