New Poll Question for week of May 1st
#191
I've been quilting almost 1 1/2 years. I did try to make one quilt many years ago, but I did everything by hand (from piecing to quilting it) & it took me a few years to complete it. Of course, my kids were little then & took up most of my time. But, I decided that quilting was not for me. Then about 1 1/2 years ago it was a very snowy winter & I got the bug to quilt again. I found a free rail fence pattern on the Internet & bought my fabrics, and from then on I was addicted. Then I bought a sewing machine with the drop feed feature & have been practicing FMQ. I have to say that this board is what helped me. I don't have anyone around me that quilts, and so, I have been trying to learn on my own. I don't think that I would have made much progress if it had not been for the helpful quilters on this board. So, here's a big THANK YOU to all the wonderful quilters on this board.

If I count when I first sat next to my mother and her teaching me to hand quilt (I was about 8 years old) I would have to say about 66-67 years. I made a quilt for my doll around that time. I self taught myself to piece and held the interest ever since.

I was first introduced to hand quilting when I was 15. I always knew I wanted to quilt someday. Two years ago I joined a quilt guild. Although I do not actually have completed quilt; I do have a rather nice stash from which to draw. I have several WIPs to work on over the next several months and I anticipate completing more than a couple before this time next year.
TOTAL QUILTING TIME: 2 years and 2 months and I have enjoyed every minute of it.
