My newest Singer is from 1968, my oldest Singer is about 1910 both are great machines. I think its sad that the new Singers aren't up to par; they are noisy when running and don't sew very well & seem to break easily too. The company is only in business to make money, they don't seem to care about the quality of their products.
I used to sell the new Singers and I was embarrassed to sell such poor quality machines.

I have 4 Singers BUT I love the old Singers I have 2 of them one model 66 and one 301 my other 2 are 6233 and 9030. I mostly sew on the later two as I have to share my sewing room with my DH. So I have 2 of them on one sewing table, it works out great as I have different threads in them. I purchased all my machines at yard sales and estate sales. They all work great (knock on wood)

The owner of a LQS I shop in Arizona (she has a repair department) told me they have lots of problems with repairs on the new Singers and she would never recommend anyone buying one. She said the older Singers are great, but the new ones are really bad.
