Any ideas of how to use 5 inch nine patch blocks.I have about 30 assorted browns, 3o assorted purples plus 6 yellows etc. I know there's too many for one lap size quilt. Can I do similar to single irish chain but use a kiddy print instead of the plain white block.

Oops, The whole block is just 5 inches, I guess that will be 4.5 finished. Got them a long time ago in a block exchange. Each month we did a pre-selected color. So the popular colors I have quite a few. For some reason I just have three yellow & 4 blue.

Thank you, just never thought to use muslin on quilt top. I sure do have tons (15 yds.) of muslin. I bought a mini bolt at Joannes (had to use my 50% coupon). That stuff is so thin, the label read 100% cotton. I even washed in hot water, dried on hot. I was hoping it would tighten up a bit, no such luck.

I would suggest you use a better quality muslin for piecing in a quilt top. That thin muslin is 'ok' for backing 'in a pinch' but I agree with you, it needs to be 'tighter woven' to work well in a top
you can also use Kona solids....... off white or cream!
    would love to see pictures

You are right about that muslin being to thin for top. I'm thinking I might use 505 spray on 2 pieces to double it & use as a backing on my charity quilts. Do you think this will work.

I wouldnt use spray or double it,,,,,,,,,,, it will be fine for charity quilts as a backing.
See if you can find "ecology cloth' which is a nice high end muslin.......
