DD lives just outside of Philadelphia & will be closing on a house in Norristown later this month. That means I get to visit more often! :)

Does anyone know of quilt shops in the area? We've been to Lancaster to visit, most recentlly this past spring, but that's a couple of hours away. I'd prefer something closer to Philadelphia.

Would also be interested in yarn or cross stitch stores in the area.

Hate to tell you but I think Lancaster is going to be closer than anything I know of! The only places I'm aware of are The Little Shop in Haddonfield, NJ; Olde City Quilts in Burlington, NJ; and Pennington Quilt Works in Pennington, NJ. Next to Pennington Quilt Works is a beautiful yarn shop as well as a bead shop. The last time I was in the yarn shop (Wolly Lamb???) they had beautiful yarn and needlepoint canvases. If you need home dec stuff or garment fabric, Fabric Row in Philadelphia has some great stuff. Nothing to speak of for quilting fabrics though.

Hopefully, someone else here will be able to give your more info on shops on the PA side of the river!

Hah, I can help with this one!

There's a great sort of sewing shop called Steve's Sew and Vac. Not really a quilt shop, but they have tons of machines and fabric. Shouldn't be too much of a haul for you. Then a little ways away is Byrne Sewing Connection; haven't been in there, but it looked nice enough.

Sadly, a lot of them have closed down, but I do know about those two!

Thanks so much, Brynn. Those both look very promising. I'm planning to go down in October & hope to be able to check them out!

Wow, my list of places to visit is growing. If I don't make them all this time around, I'll be back and will get to them another time. Olde City Quilts looks very nice!

I will second Olde City Quilts. Very nice shop with great fabrics and wonderfully helpful staff. Not affiliated, just a happy shopper.
