    Default OBW Corner Blocks

I'm working on the borders for my first OBW quilt and since I have 4 left over hexagons, I thought I'd turn them into corner blocks.

Since my borders are going to be 12" wide, I'll have to bring the hexagons up to the same size.

My thought was to add triangles to the hexie's sides to turn it into a square, and then add rectangles to all 4 sides to get to the 12" size I need.

Am I on the right track? Will this look okay?

    Newbie quilter,

    Cheryl

    Sounds like a good plan.

Sounds good to me. I hope you post a picture when you finish it.

Okay, I'm moving ahead with my plan for the blocks. I'll post a picture when the quilt is assembled.

I enjoy working with hexes so it will be interesting to see what you are making.

That's exactly the way I would handle it. Add the triangles and then the rectangles. Looking forward to seeing your project

Sounds like an ideal way to incorporate the leftovers and with you building them out they will have a floating effect.

That sounds like a really good plan and I, too, will be looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.
