http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/z...emType=product What do you OBW master think? I played with my mirror and was pleased with what I saw. When the pattern says I need , repeats, that is not the same as a yard? The repeat is 24 inches. I want to use it for either a lap quilt or wall hanging.

That should make a sweet OBW! Yes, the number of repeats you need will determine the yardage to buy.

Can't wait to see your sewn blocks. I like the fabric, it has a lot of interest to it.

If you are going to do hexagons, you would need 6 repeats. Each pattern is 24", or 2 feet.
    6 repeats X 2 feet =12 feet.
3 feet per yard, so 4 yards at a minimum. You probably want an additional yard for reference and/or borders or a single repeat for the back. So 5 yards.

That'll make a great OBW. Really nice!

Math as per the other poster ... or perhaps you would consider doing the whole back in the same fabric? Then of course, you need more!

And more, if you want to use the same fabric for binding.

How soon do you plan to start, so we can see it! :)

There are so many different colors that without seeing the original fabric, no one will know it came from the same fabric. Great choice.
