I've wanted to try a obw for a while now...I've spent a lot of time looking at different fabric choices people have made and searching for a fabric for my own. After much time spent searching...I think I've found it - I am in love with this fabric! But before I buy, I just wanted to get a few opinions...

That link takes you to the fabric...will it work? I was thinking to get 6 yards...enough? Not enough? Too much?

    Thanks everyone!

Woo! I think that would turn out GREAT! Does the listing show how often the repeat is? I've heard you need 6 repeats for it to "work".

No...It doesn't. I wonder if they'll measure it for me....

It could save you a few bucks if they would. Just ask what the repeat is, and they will tell you in inches.

So, if the repeat was, for example, 12", I'd multiply by 6 to determine my yardage needed?

I just sent them an email...soo we shall see.

Exactly. Then maybe add another 1/2 or so "just in case". Others that have done this can correct me if I'm wrong, because this is "on the list" for me to do, and I've yet to find the perfect fabric.

Yes, you need six repeats (best if about 18 inches apart). Having a little extra won't hurt. Some people make sure they have some of the original fabric left over to incorporate into their quilt.

I plan to get plenty of extra, I want to do a border with the original, maybe even cut out and appliqué a couple of the flowers in the center of the top...we'll see...I really hope this fabric will work, I love it!!
