I recently was "blessed" by a cousin who sent me some quilt blocks done by my grandmother who died in 1970. My cousin cut them out of a VERY used quilt. The blocks are little girls in sun bonnets. I have about ten blocks and I wondered if anyone had any ideas of what I can do with them. I am a very BEGINNER in the quilting world, I have just started to piece my first top so I'm nervous, even though they are practically rags, I treasure them and I don't want to ruin them even further. This is the only thing I own that belonged to my grandmother. Any ideas?

I think I'd frame them. What a great blessing!!

Maybe you could have them framed under glass so that they are protected. Use them in your sewing room . I have several blocks from my great-aunt done that way.

I would frame each block and put her name and any info you have on her and make a gift to others in the family. Truly a blessing for all to have some quilting heritage framed. SOmetimes it is better to frame older fabric because it may fall apart if handled too much. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would probably frame them also. Just don't have the fabric touching the glass; they need a small air space.

I agree that framing them would best preserve them. Later on, if you feel more confident, you can still do something else with them.

I wonder if a shadow box frame might be best.
