I am looking to buy some 10 inch blocks of batiks and wondering what stores others recommend. I have used connecting threads and am very happy with what I have purchased there, but can't find just the right colors with what they have. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance, because I know that there are lots out there, and will appreciate your input

www.hancocks-paducah.com is a wonderful store and I have actually watched the ladies as they cut the fabric for the orders. They are a wonderful group of people, always helpful and always so good to my cuts (not shorting or yucky cutting).

I haven't ordered online from them, but when I last went to my aunt's, I stopped in their store. It's amazing! It's in an old Victorian house. (ETA: just checked their website further. The house was built in 1840, so my era is off :-)) They had the front parlor (I'm assuming :-)) filled with batiks. The employee told me the owner buys just about every batik that comes to market.

The store is called Batiks Etcetera & Sew What Fabrics

(Note: it's been about 3 years since I was there)

I, too would highly recommend Batiks Etc. and Sew What Fabrics. I've purchased from them several times and their service is great. Their prices are pretty good, too. I haven't been to their store, but they had a large booth at the AQS show in Knoxville that was fantastic. I definitely plan to stop at their store the next time we travel up I-81 to visit my DD in Maryland.

I've also recently made some purchases from Batiks Plus. They have great stock, but their prices are a little higher. Another shop with lots of batiks at good prices is Stitch-n-Frame. They are in Mississippi and nearly always have several lines of batiks on their Thursday Special.

    www.sewbatik.com

This is a great place out in rural ND. She has the most beautiful batiks.:)

Here is her online catalog. (probably not for dial up.)

If the link doesn't work go to her site and click on online catalog.
