This is a quilt I made with the 6 1/2 inch ruler. The border is made from the leftovers when the squares are cut. Very easy to make, but I think, very dramatic

Here's a picture of my "in progress" quilt made from the 6 1/2 X-block ruler. There is quite a variety of ways to lay out your blocks.

Patricia Pepi is a friend of mine and she will be in Houston again this year with her blocks and books. She and her partner have a great demo they do every hour. I have all her xblocks and her book. She is wonderful to learn from. So if you get to Houston, Loo up her booth. They are so easy to do and look great. We met last year and stayed at the Magnolia two rooms apart and had wine and dinnr together. She is so sweet. Have kept in touch becasue of Project Linus. Hope you get to see her work.

I love how you can make so many quilt blocks from her template. My friend loves it...I am ordering one next week.

I went to a workshop some years ago and we sewed three fabric strips together and cut using a paper pattern sorta like the x block ruler. We ended up with the starry type block. I remember that the star shapes would be the color of the outside strips. I don't think there is any ruler or pattern that is totally a new idea. Our guild has the rulers and book and I may check them out and give this a try.

I would love to see a few of your quilts. I just bought the template today...not thrilled about the instructions but I think it will be pretty easy.
