I did this sampler quilt as my first quilt in a quilting class this past summer. (I've shown it before) I jumped the gun when I started it and bought a second set of fabrics to make the exact same quilt for a friend of mine. (So wish I hadn't. I'm not loving some of the squares.)

I'm still working on the squares so I'm not at the point of basting it yet, but I can't get it out of my head that when it was time to put the above quilt together, I had to cut the batting into four pieces and somehow attach my four rows. I just don't remember exactly how I am suppose to do it. And the directions in the book SUCKS.

When the time comes, can I just baste it the same way I did my YBR quilt? Or do I HAVE to cut the batting into four pieces the way I did in class? I am drawing such a blank right now on how to do it.

Was it a quilt as you go???? cannot see any other reason why you would cut up the batting..?????

I feel so stupid that I can't remember all the details considering it was just this summer. I'm guessing it was. Here is a pic I took when I was at class that I had posted on FB. It said that this row was quilted. Do I HAVE to do it the same way as in class? Boy oh boy...do I wish I'd taken more pictures so I could remember.

Sure, there's no reason why you can't quilt it the same way you did your YBR. Just piece the entire top and baste it to the backing and batting.
