I know they have those rings for when you Embroider by hand... do they offer those for quilting? just the ring... cause all I need that for would be a doll quilt... So do they make those or do I have to get the big quilting tables (I don't know what those are called! lol)

Yes they make quilting hoops, however, for just a doll quilt, I would hand quilt without one.

I think you mean hoops? The have various sizes at places like A C Moore and Michaels. They also have quilting lap frames made out of PVC type pipe with clips that hold the quilt in place. Check it out and see what would work best for you.

I have several smaller embroidery hoops that I no longer use -- if you'd like to try them with quilting. The only thing is they might clamp the quilt too tight.....does anyone know??

Quilting hoop frames are much wider then embroidery hoops. A narrow hoop can't handle the three layers of the quilt. A good quilting hoop is hard to find. Not many places sell them. If you happen to see a wide embroidery hoop at a yard sale buy it, it's a quilting hoop. A few years ago the Buhoogee Hoop was available to buy and they are fantastic! I don't know why they aren't being sold anymore. I can't find one anywhere.

Thanks for clearing that up for me BellaBoo! I don't use a hoop for hand quilting at all -- just gets in my way
