Has anyone tried the Quilt Halo tool by Sharon Schaumburg to help with FMQ?

I've seen it used in a video but I've heard lots of negatives on that one.
What has helped me a lot are the gloves and the slider. I use a teflon sheet.

I bought it, tried it once and never used it again. I ended up giving it away to someone else who wanted to try it. I liked using my hands more. Felt like I had more control.

This is the first that I have heard of it. I usually use the (white) gloves and slider also. I am not sure how it works. Is it a weighted ring?

It is a weighted ring. I have used mine once or twice but generally prefer using gloves and slider.

I had one and it was just ok. I gave it away when I got my HQ16. I would not buy it again but did not hate it either.

I was lucky to see Sharon at Paducah when she had the Halo for sale. She sit at the machine and demoed it. I caught her at a lull and she sit with me and guided me how to use it. She said if you use it once and put it in a drawer then you will never learn how to use it or how useful it can be. She used two, one on top of the other but I preferred one. It is made for small quilting motifs and detailed quilting in a small area. I use it more for machine applique to keep the pieces flat and taut.

​If you are into detailed fillers I can see it being helpful. With bigger designs you would have to constantly reposition it.

I tried it at an expo and it just felt cumbersome to me. I can't find anything that I like better than gloves.
