    Default Quilters Dream Blend Batting?

Have any of you used Quilters Dream Blend Batting - 70% cotton and 30% polyester. I'm looking for a batting that will have more loft - give more stitch definition. Thanks.

I emailed them and later called them and they sent me three wool samples each about 15 " square. The wool has nice loft but not the heat of polyester. I bet they would send you samples of both.

Via the email from Jane: "The Dream Cotton select is only slightly heavier with 4 ounces of fiber per square yard and is still quite thin, but it is much easier to use on the machine (than Dream Request) because you don't have to be quite as delicate with it. The Dream Wool has 3.5 ounces per square yard, but it is much loftier - it has approximately 1/3 - 1/2" of loft, but because is light weight, it compresses well for hand quilting, and is also great for machine quilting. The Dream Wool is slightly warmer than the Dream Cotton select weight."

    i love their products.

Thank you for your replies. I'm trying to decide which batting to use in a double wedding ring quilt for my son and daughter in law. It will be used and laundered. I really want something softer than cotton batting with more loft. Do you think wool would hold up well to washing and drying? Thanks again.

QD 70/30 is my standard batting...I keep a large roll on hand at all times and use it for almost every project. It does not need to be closely quilted if you have a quick project, is very easy to handle, washes and wears extremely well, etc. I also like its weight (not overly heavy or too warm for here in Florida). However, if you are looking for a batting with higher loft to accentuate stitching and stand up to laundering, I think you need to go with much more poly or perhaps wool, although I have not used the wool. QD 70/30 is not very high loft.

I agree with Chasezzz, this is my favorite batting for most everything. But it does not have much loft, polyester will give more loft and accent to your stitching.
    BTW, I love your avatar.

I would call them and ask their opinion. They are a very customer oriented company, not too many now a day.

Thanks. Are there disadvantages to using polyester batting?
