Default Red Minky.. will I be sorry?

I am working on a quilt and I wanted to use Minky for the back. I usually avoid red because of the bleeding.. but it just seemed like the backing should be red. Has anyone here used red Minky? I will prewash, but other than that do you have any tips? Is one prewash enough? Should I wash this a few times before I put it into my project?

Wash once with a color catcher and if it comes out clear there's no need to wash again. I haven't used Minky but also haven't heard anything about it being prone to bleeding.

I just finished a quilt with red minky backing. I washed the minky once, without a color catcher, and it did not run at all. After the quilt was done, I washed it again, with no bleeding.
    Good luck.

I believe minky is polyester so it shouldn't bleed at all. But as the others have advised, I would wash it first.

There is a thread posted today under the Links and Resources page with a link about sewing with minky. Might want to check that out. It has some really good tips.

Thanks.. I did look at that link, however it does not call out washing/prewashing/bleeding. I will get some color catchers. I am encouraged that grammy of 6 did not have any problems. Thanks

I once used burgundy and yep I was sorry. BUT you are smart enough to prewash, so you should be ok
Jst keep washing until no more red comes out. My burgundy bled for about 10-15 washes! and pretty much ruined the quilt. Somehow it still get used for cuddling

I don't recall ever having any Minky that bled.
