Using a scant 1/4" is moving my needle over the width of 3-5 threads so it is still very close to the quarter inch. Getting a true quarter inch is very difficult and once I found it I have been very careful not to loose it. I have it marked very well on the FW that I use everyday. Even if you are over a bit more than a scant quarter inch you should be alright. Happy quilting.
